brooklyn is the only place left in ny that i can still stand. of the day.

l_e4ebdfa028dc47cfce9b7ac268b9150a.jpg i am starting a new ongoing investigation in to how much manhattan can suck my dick and brooklyn is the shit.  this is hard hitting and gritty journalism at its best and it starts today: bars in manhattan fucking blow.  they never have good music, food, atmospheres, etc.  thats why i am spending this thursday in good old motherfucking brooklyn. stop 1:  Franks on fulton st.  dive bar, cheap booze and The Juggs are playing tonight. stop 2: Barret on vanderbilt ave.  insane drinks, go go dancers, food until 4am and my man Taco of the mighty CHIN CHIN djs there with my homie DJ PRESERVATION (mos defs dj).   in the meantime some coked up 20 year old will be telling parralel universe el-p how much she likes david bowie and donovan while showing me her “ink” and winking at josh hartnet.  in manhattan.  editors note:  im not talking about williamsburg.  williamsburg is the only place in brooklyn that sucks harder than manhattan as a rule no matter what the circumstance.

I dont remember the last time I went out in NYC or even had the desire to….wait it was one of your gigs in fact but that clearly does not fit into the aforementioned criteria…blah… I prefer dive bars with cheap prices close enough to my home so when im well thrashed I can just walk it…Jersey City ….Luck 7’s or Latin Lounge where the jibaros thrive….Brooklyn’s ok but shit I’m gonna need a place to crash..the train at 4 in the morning sucks even more dick than Manhattan “nightlife”

Word im curious to see the conclusion of your investigation. I need to (ok, want to) move to NY for a better job. Manhattan seems like the obvious choice just cuz thats where all the decent jobs are…I think. Maybe Brooklyn more affordable? Where Im originally from, Reading PA, is a one-way trip to prison/child support/low-life 4-life shit hole. I never heard the term “dive bar” until I moved to philly. Apparently all the bars back in Reading would be considered dive bars, but fuck it, dive bars are the shit. Im sure you Brooklyn natives are tired of people moving to your hometown but yo, I gotta go where the jobs/money is at, know what im sayin?

I’m from Queens originally and it had some similarities to where I stay now (Virginia Beach) but no place on earth could possibly need to suck my dick more than Virginia Beach.

haha…manhattan is the american mecca son, fake believers or not. I lived all over the city after college from 2000 - 2005…hell southside queens, jamaica heights, astoria, off smith st. in BK, the YMCA in greenpoint (what what), Bushwick, and then finally this flophouse off the Bowery + 3rd (you thought that flophouse shit was over right?)

i mean manhattan son, everything above 14th is fucking weird…even under 14th i used to hit up blue and gold and the cherry tavern on the regular…I used to digout a bartender on 2nd and houston so we used to post up there for a while too…ahh good times…good times…

i gave up on wanting to hear good music in new york though. that shit just doesnt exist anywhere…

Grew up in Soho. Hate the fuck out of it. (that corner where there’s a staples and a bloomingdales, everybody who walks those streets on the weekends ought to know that the people above them hate the shit out of those bastards).

Lived in Williamsburg for a year. Wanted to gouge my cock off with a fucking gargoyle statuette a la hot fuzz.

Now in Greenpoint. Nice as all shit up here.
