Im The New Girl In Town…..

…And what better way to start off than with posting this awesome magazine cover featuring OUR future president!

I am beyond honored and proud to even grace the same pages as Obama in Vibe magazine.

If I’ve ever been stoked about any feature, it is this one because it’s historical and will be forever.

Check out his letter to the readers below and the wonderful write up dedicated to all of his greatness!

Can’t say I really know your music but that’s cool if you are doing what you love. Your bit on Obama has gotten my attention however. Based on how well you seem to express yourself, I have respect for your intellect and find it odd that you would be taken in so blindly by the hype wagon on this election. Come on, “greatness?” I just have to say you are fooling yourself if you think Obama is the great answer to all of our problems in this country.
And hell no, McCain isn’t the answer either so calm down and listen. Everyone and their uncle Frank is on Obama’s jock right now so I need to say this.
Our future does NOT rest with personalities. With a kind face and some eloquent speeches which misdirect attention away from the false core. It would be much better if you and everyone else could take a step back off this thing and look at the big picture for a moment rather than relying on the bright and shiny pre-chewed vignettes the media is rationing out..
Obama is still playing the game he wants you to think he will change. People are crazy if they think the criminals in Washington would allow Barrack to get where he has gotten without playing their game to do so. A potential candidate has to have a LOT of support before they ever even get to the point where the public can vote for them. There are a lot of unattractive things going on behind the scenes there. Agreements that will put a concerned look on your face I’m sure. He is member of the Democratic Party which, unless you have forgotten, is one half of the establishment in this country. Can you say corrupt? One half of the problems of the past is certainly not the answer for the future. Think about that without support of the hype machine for a moment. In this government the president is a program…little more than the puppet sitting on the lap of the Party, chattering forth an agenda that is not really even his/her own. And even the people making it a racial thing (which would be an unfortunate thing to do), but even that route goes nowhere. All of his best friends are white and rich. WTF? What is he really going to do for Tonya Billups, 25 and single with 3 kids in Detroit? He has LONG ago lost touch with the heart of the African American community. He does play the game well because he has everyone of color wound up thinking he is their candidate which is really sad because I know so many people are so on edge and NEED something to be done differently right now. But truly, Obama cares no more about the common human being in this country than any other white presidential candidate before him. He doesn’t know what it is like to struggle from week to week like a great majority of US citizens of any color. The guy has been in an above average income (or more) all of his life. His image is what is selling everything. I don’t know…maybe you and most people who read this are all fine with that. Maybe I am one of the few left alive in a land of zombies. I’d just like to hope there are those who want something more.

Now we get to the point where I give you a solution. People like you and I need to start promoting and supporting a 3rd party in this country because so long as there are only two, nothing will ever truly change. Democrat and Republican..they are two sides of the same damn coin…you know how little distance there is between those two sides. The amount of difference certainly isn’t enough to make the country a place that can be governed with respect and decency and the understanding that politicians are merely our employees which is the way it SHOULD be. Either the one party or the other will give you more of the same misery simply with a different spin on it. Jefferson and Adams both realized over 200 years ago that this form of government would stagnate and become useless to actually serve its people if two parties were to become the rule. Right now, elected officials have the complacency of knowing there is really only one side they need to look better than in order to get into office and that is just fucked up when you really think about it. The people of this country who actually work hard to survive, yet still do have hope for the future NEED a legitimate third choice. A choice that will actually break down the establishment and build a new one and a better one the way the PEOPLE really want it to be.
Obama serves money and power and the established Democratic Party Agendaâ„¢. McCain serves money and power and the established Republican Party Agendaâ„¢. How about a choice that will serve us?
Voting anyone else but those two parties this election day is the only real way to shake things up and change anything. I’d say to write in “Revolution” on the ballot, but I know most don’t have the stomach to go that far.
I know the general consensus is to vote the lesser of two evils. Well lesser evil is still evil, is it not? I, for one, would die before I lower myself to support one evil just because the other one is perceived as worse. An apathetic stance on just what it is that makes “right” and “wrong” is one reason why things are getting so fucked up in this world. We are supposed to be living in the greatest country on earth?…certainly a country like this should have more options rather than resigning oneself to evil all the damn time. How about something better…
You or anyone who sees this can feel free to get in touch and tell me how much of an ass I am (although I’d prefer intelligent discussion). I’d be pleasantly surprised if anyone actually read all of this so I won’t be a coward and neglect to leave my email just in case. thinkkam@earthlink.net

Hey Solange..can’t wait to pick up the new issue of vibe…Im reading that you might join ur big sis on the tour and I know its not it stone yet but if you do end up performing at the after parties I would hate that because I’m only sixteen so I doubt I have a chance of getting into the party. I love your album and I would love even more to see you perform it live…anywho when you’re scheduling your tour keep your sixteen year old “supporters” like myself in mind :D
