Read A Book, Common Glows In The Dark,
RZA again confirms new Wu-Tang album coming.
rumor has it…
Monday! First off, I have to ask. What is the deal with these female rappers out of New York? Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Remy Ma should start a group. What would they be called?
That being said, it feels like its often more times the men of the “inner city” (you know what I mean) who are being criticized for getting caught up in the trappings of violence, bling, and everything else that is wrong with the portrayal’s of their seemingly successful peers in the media. That is why
Bomani Armah encourages everybody to “READ A BOOK! READ A BOOK!” Watch the the animated video for “Read a Book” as seen on BET.
So read a book and take a lesson from Common. On Thursday Billboard ran an article reporting on a bunch of good stuff from the King of Consciousness. First, he will be performing at the “Live at the BBQ” three-city concert sponsored by Microsoft’s ZUNE which kicked of in LA last Thursday, followed by Chicago (July 22) and New York (Aug. 4). The concert also features Mos Def, Bilal, UGK, Large Professor, and the Clipse to name a few. Com will also be performing in Starbucks stores in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles later this year, making him the first hip-hop act to do so.
Lastly, RUMOR HAS IT, Kanye West is busy planning his upcoming tour schedule and has expressed interest in bringing out SeƱor Sense, Lupe Fiasco and T-Pain. Makes sense, right?! Apparently some sort of tour is in the works and it may be getting referred to as the “Glow In The Dark” tour.
Following in the footsteps of Common, South Carolina rapper/producer Danny is back following last years’ acclaimed release Charm with one last project before his Def Jux debut. Check him out in the Now Hear This with Danny Is Dead!
Again from Billboard.com, Wu-Tang mastermind RZA has once again confirmed the “8 Diagram” album is on the way via SRC Records. According to RZA, the album will also include a tribute to fallen killer bee Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Hopefully it won’t work or sound anything like this.
R.E.A.D. A. B.O., OKay!
