Kanye Video Interview / VMA Rematch Vs Justice, Kweli Sells Out, Roots Rise Down April ‘08?, Happy BDay Nikki!
Lost and Found in stores next Tuesday
In this interview (video) on Radio 1 with Westwood, Kanye West talks about his passion, addresses media and public perception, and gets amped in general (discuss). It is interesting to hear him describe in detail what drove him to seemingly throw dirt on the MTV European Music Awards when Justice vs. Simian’s “We Are Your Friends” took the award for best video over Ye’s “Touch The Sky.” As a fan of Kanye, I was disappointed in the disrespectful manner with which he treated the winners, ruining their moment. However, it appears that Kanye is improving with each year though and with the 2007 VMAs coming up on September 9th, Ye finds his video for “Stronger” up against another dope one from Justice with their video for “D.A.N.C.E.” off their album , which was just awarded the highest score from Okayplayer Reviews.
The new Okayplayer Featured Artist is Ledisi but don’t get it twisted, she’s been putting it down with the best of them for a minute. Her new album Lost and Found is in stores August 28th. Peep the feature and hit her up on MySpace.
This week saw the release of Eardrum, the long anticipated album from Talib Kweli. How off the hook is “Hostel Gospel” produced by Just Blaze? Word on the boards is that he is looking at some impresive first week numbers. Go Kwe! Don’t be left out, cop that today.
Back to Kanye on the making-a-difference tip. AllHipHop reports: “Kanye West and his Kanye West Foundation has partnered with Strong America Schools and will be featured in a series of public service announcements (PSAs) urging the presidential candidates to address issues within America’s educational system.” (full article)
Get your speculation on! Roots fans anticipate their next project, Rising Down. We understand from the band’s management that they have the framework for all the songs and are hoping to finish recording the album in the next two months. We also got word on some guests but aren’t allowed to tell.
A very special Happy Birthday shout out to Nikki Jean who turns 16 tomorrow. She would like to extend a very awesome and hilarious invitation to come to her party. We Love You Nikki!
