Hez Iz Here, OkaySuperbad, Marathon Man Remix Explained, Ecko Buys Bonds Ball, Kwe X Dilla X Tip = Lightworks.

• The day has arrived for our boy, Philly’s own, creator of the Beat*Society, emcee, producer, director, artist Hezekiah and his new album I Predict A Riot on Soulspazm/Rawkus. Philly peeps can enjoy two release events this week including tomorrow’s U2 style party on top of Whole Foods on South Street. Get all the details here and NYC heads simply reply to that post to win a pair of tickets to Hez’s show on Friday featuring a live band and performances by Freeway, Bilal, Jaguar, and more.

• In lazy Sunday fashion, I finally got around to seeing Superbad this past weekend. Despite remembering reading a post that both The Roots and The Coup have songs featured in the movie, I was pretty surprised when “Hear I Come” started playing featuring the homie Dice Raw’s verse. For the official Superbad discussion go here, but beware of spoilers.

• Last week iTunes debuted an unreleased song from The Roots called “Marathon Man.” This is NOT a new single. In fact, its not even really The Roots outside of the vocals. The version on iTunes is a remix of a demo that was cut from Game Theory. The remix was done by James Poyser for Apple to be included as a demo in the new version of their Logic audio recording software. The original sounds MUCH different and actually would have fit the texture of GT had it not been cut.

• Yesterday we announced that Skillz will be doing a journal entry for every date on the VH1 Hip Hop Honors Tour. While we gather up the proper images and format the page, you can get a preview of the first three entries here.

• AllHipHop reports that Marc Ecko has bought the Barry Bonds record breaking Homerun Ball For $756k and is inviting fans to go to www.vote756.com and choose to either “give the ball to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, permanently brand the ball with an asterisk before sending it to Cooperstown or put the ball on a rocket ship and launch it into space.” Yet another brilliant marketing move on Ecko’s behalf that will see him reaching millions of people who may not know diddly about the Hip Hop mogul and his various brands, not to mention an interesting exercise in democracy.

• Crazy Dj Bazarro is back with another episode of his Jean Grae Radio. Peep the playlist inside that post.

• Let’s talk Stonesthrow for a moment. They have teamed up with 2K Sports with the upcoming release of B-Ball Zombie War (Oct 2) and the track listing is off the hook, especially the Kweli, Dilla and Q-Tip laced “Lightworks.” Check for that. The album features all the Stonesthrow stable, including Percee P who’s song and video for “Put It On The Line” is HARD.

Okayplayer would once again like to welcome back El Keter and Blogarythms while sending out the deepest of condolences regarding the loss of Keter’s Mother, as revealed in his entry from yesterday. Scroll down for that.
