Meshell’s New Album, Jill Scott On NPR, AHH X Ledisi, Interviews: Kanye / Jay Electronica / Lupe, The Apollonia 6.
Meshell Ndegeocello
Yesterday was all about the ladies, and today we’re gonna keep it going!
Meshell Ndegeocello, the 9-time Grammy Award nominee, bassist, singer, songwriter, and all around fierce woman, dropped her 7th studio album entitled The World Has Made Me The Man Of My Dreams. A genre-bending (not to mention gender-bending) work filled with soul, faith, rage, anguish, and love, the album also features guest spots by Pat Metheny and our boy Robert Glasper. Read Entertainment Weekly’s review which rates it a “solid A” and gives it an “EW PICK” stamp, then make sure to cop for yourself. NYC, don’t miss her album release party tonight at the Hiro Ballroom.
Yesterday also saw the release of fellow-fierce-female Jill Scott’s new album, The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3. Listen to Jill talk about her latest effort on NPR’s Tell Me More, and then be sure to grab up the Deluxe Edition cd/dvd combo version.
Allhiphop.com gets down with our Featured Artist, Ledisi in an in-depth interview with the songstress. We been tryin’ to tell you! Don’t sleep on her new album Lost & Found.
INTERVIEWS
In case you missed it, peep Kanye on ABC’s Nightline talking about his ambition, his process, his vanity, his politics, meet his mom and get a glimpse of his crib. Sidebar: this weeks SoundScan reveals Ye’s sales down 76% and 50 down 79%… ouch.
A lotta people on the boards have been asking “who is Jay Electronica?” We’ve got the answers. Finally, an interview surfaces with the man himself! Read up and find out about this MC and producer.
In this short interview Lupe talks about his newest album The Cool, a follow-up to his debut Food & Liquor, slated for a November release.
Okayplayer’s got 2 brand new interviews, both on the Rawkus roster. Read on as OKP chops it up with both Mr. J Medeiros and Panacea.
