Rappers We Love + Rappers He Knows & more cool isht…
do you like violence?
So I’m about to have some new neighbors, among them one of my favorite rappers. I don’t really have much to report on her front, but my sidebar was enough to post the above photo. If we can’t hear any new songs, I don’t think any of us mind at least looking at you, Jean. I did receive a call this week from the Blacksmith office saying that someone on the OkayBoards was using what apparently is a rough version of the album cover of her record with 9th Wonder as their avatar. That was encouraging, although if you are that person, please hit me up, we’d like to hear from you. In the mean time, Jean’s friend and long time collaborator (and former stage DJ), Crazy Dj Bazarro is back with his 1990’s flashback cassette style podcast. And while we’re on the topic of (supposed) rough versions of album covers, go ahead and speculate on this.

One rapper who doesn’t keep us waiting, Talib Kweli. While his groups Black Star and Reflection Eternal linger steadily in the wings, Kwe keeps evolving and giving us more. Read the new article on MTV.com where he explains in detail. Then read Okayplayer Candace L’s first hand account of Kwe’s visit to Green Lantern’s Hip Hop Nation show on Sirius Radio yesterday.

Let’s talk more favorite rappers. Redman… our peoples Kidz In The Hall are on tour opening up for the veteran emcee. Break out the bubble-goose, its Aspen Colorado tonight.

This is getting long and we’ve got a lot of new stuff for you below between a new installment of fwmj’s “Rappers I know” plus the 22nd edition of Keter’s “Records At Random.” So here I go with some news bullets of interest.

• OkayDocumentarians Numerous Cats have booked two screenings of their film about our community in San Francisco this weekend (Sat & Sun). We have to big that up.

• Time is running out for you to vote for Tanya Morgan to win the MySpace/XM contest as well as for DJ Soul’s Assorted Donuts Dilla tribute to win Vibe Magazine’s Mixtape of The Year award. We are so proud to be a part of these things, I don’t think you even understand. Shout out to Little Brother.

• After you vote, watch Iylas from Tanya Morgan’s new video for his solo song “Fly Away.”

• New in reviews. Okay favs, J*Davey, and their mixtape “Land Of the Lost EPisode” made available for FREE from Fader Mag receives a score of 4, as does Raul Midon with his album “A World Within A World.” I’ll have to read that one.

• Aceyalone has a brand new and HOT video for his dancehall infused single “Eazy” featuring Chali 2na and Bionik off his new album Lightening Strikes in stores next Tuesday!

This IS community. Scroll down for all sorts of more cool stuff and have a great weekend…
