Roots Rock Philly, Live Mixtape Is Here, Skillz’ Crushes, The CoupTV, HHH Week Events in NYC, Contest Winners.

• The Roots and HHH Tour cast brought down the house in front of a sold out home-town crowd last night at Philly’s Electric Factory. The most difficult venues of all the many for The Roots, ?uestlove is quoted as claiming a mere 5 “fumbles” (eff ups) at a show Shawn Gee was overheard describing as the “best ever.” Birthday vibes accented the three hours of live mixtape madness and all I can say is WATCH OUT NEW YORK.

• Skillz is having the best tour ever and is hanging on to keeping up his blog. A quick trek to Worcester Mass and back has him wiped out, but not enough to stop him from giving the performance of his life in Philly. Check back tomorrow to see what he has to say about BT’s Bday show and in the mean time, hit up definitive doodle to peep his photos and hear a live recording of Skillz’ new hit “Crazy World” from the DC show.

• You can’t go wrong with The Coup ‘cuz they keep it RILLZ. And so that means you can’t go wrong with the just launched CoupTV! Boots Riley announced the group’s very own youtube channel. In addition to Coup-relevant music vids, interviews, live performances, and comedy bits the channel will also host pieces about music production and writing.

• Two things NYC is not ready for (of many). 1) Skillz “Crazy World” and 2) Thought’s “Men At Work.” No matter that you know he kills it, no matter how many times you see it, it will still blow your mind.

• Congratulations to our grand prize winner Kristen L.R. who scored a pair of tix to the late night HHHT show at Nokia in Time Square this Friday and the LTD HHH jacket. As well as to the 5 runner ups who won t-shirts. SOME tickets are still available for the late show this Friday.

HHH WEEK EVENTS IN NYC!

• Tomorrow come get down to the tunes of the Mighty DJs ?uestlove and Cosmo Baker (Philly!) at club Love. Then on Sunday, after you’ve fully recovered from Friday nights Hip Hop Honors maddness, get ready to do it all over again. Manhattan, “DJs Make Your Junk Shake!” with Team Facelift, Benny Blanco (Bangers and Cash) and more. Brooklyn, it’s gonna be wild with M.O.P., Game Rebellion, Lordz Of Brooklyn and The Nillaz. Will I see you on the dance floor or in the mosh pit?
