New Common Video Teaser, Black Thought Murder Live, CMJ Roundup and Look Ahead feat M.I.A., Tiombe Lockhart, Wyclef, Wiz Khalifa, Apollo Heights, The Noisettes, Spank Rock, Santogold, Justice, Kudu, & more.
If you know us, you know we tend to keep it mostly PC on the home page. Congrats to OKP Ababa for winning the 2nd create-a-caption for a Common photo contest this week. Pick out the “Choose Your Weapon” Tee of choice! Runner up, OKP JAESCOTT777 with “You’re giving me a Ressurection.” Sorry, no prizes for second place. Catch the “I Want You” video World Premiere this coming Tuesday October 23rd on BET’s 106 & Park & AOL Music. Watch the trailer!
Until then, read as B.Kyle’s regales us with how the arrest of T.I. is what it took for Common to get the accommodations he deserved at the BET Hip Hop Awards.
You heard about it. If you were there, you witnessed it. Now you can relive the experience over and over with these two fan produced clips from The Roots HHH Tour featuring Black Thought’s tribute to Kool G Rap and Skillz‘ new joint “Crazy World.”
Just announced, The Roots will play the House Of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ on December 30th. No, this is not part of a larger “Holiday Tour.” There are no plans for shows on either side of that date.
OKP Allison reports that M.I.A. will be shooting a video for her song “Paper Planes.” While we wait, check out this fan-made slide show for the track where I learned the song samples The Clash’s “Straight To Hell” and was reminded once again that, damn SHE’s HOT. CMJ peeps! Catch M.I.A. tonight at Terminal 5, where Justice will also play tomorrow. I’m sure she’ll be spotted here as well hanging with friends Spank Rock, Santogold, The Noisettes, Eearl Greyhound, and more. See you there!
Also this Saturday in New York, come see up-and-coming emcee Wiz Khalifa perform live with DJ sets by Green Lantern and Klever. The trendy 205 Chrystie is the spot.
Last night I stopped by Nublu to catch a set by Detroit’s Tiombe Lockhart. Let’s just say, she turned me/it out. *gulp* Shout outs to Rudy Rock, 77 Klash, Equal, Kater, Fubz, biJules, and the always lovely Illvia. Get a late pass on The Tiombe Lockhart Bootleg #1.
As CMJ hit day 3 in NYC yesterday, OKP’s Candace L. had a disappointing evening. After hitting up a panel on Iconic Songs, a talk by Wyclef, and KRS-One concert (sort-of) it turns out her night ended with some wackness. At least the panel was good! On the other hand, gingerlynn was hitting up the Lower East Side where it seems every CMJ-er was hanging outside on Ludlow street eating free album-promo ice-cream (true). She saw the dynamic Apollo Heights and lost her mind. They were terrific.
CMJ has NYC on its head!
