Get Back TOMORROW - Listen on Myspace, Common Video Premiere, New DLs from The Roots Live, Badu Album News.
This was our favorite from the Join The Get Back Army photos on LB’s Myspace

• Yeah, we talk about the same artists here for the most part (that’s why we added Blogarhythms, read that after this!) but that’s because, well, these artists are the shit! Little Brother, for instance. Imagine what it takes for a relatively new artist or group to step into this game in this day and age and earn the same respect that veterans such as Common, Mos, Kweli, The Roots, and Dilated command. I feel comfortable in saying that after three A+ albums, the highest of high profile collabs, classic mixtapes, and hundreds of high energy shows, these dudes are officially MAJOR and need to be shown the same level of support recently given to Com, Kwe, Kanye, and the rest.

• If you didn’t click-click-click through Phonte’s pre-album release ZIP file, you can preview Get Back in it’s entirety on their myspace page. Then order a hard copy for yourself because you are going to want to give this album serious burn. I’m personally impressed that with all the different producers, the album maintains a consistent texture throughout.

• Evidence, Brother Ali, Little Brother (what?) ripped a rammed out Highline Ballroom this past Saturday in NYC. This was THE Hip-Hop concert at this year’s CMJ festival. Catch them on the rest of their Nation Wide dates. More about that show and OKP CMJ wrap up including an exclusive photo gallery coming this week.

• Until then, read the New York Times article for their final wrap-up of CMJ 2007 entitled “Play Well, and May the Blog Buzz Be With You.” The bloggy hype of the digital age meets independent music allows bands like The Black Kids (blogged up BELOW in todays “Blogarhythms”) to pack it out in small NYC venues and ride the wave of interweb buildup. Even Jon Pareles agrees that The Dragons of Zynth (4/5 ?uesties in The Reviews) deserve some serious attention.

• Tomorrow is the premiere of the video for Common’s “I Want You” video on BET’s 106 & Park and AOL Music. Is it me or does will.i.am sound like Chris Martin on that track? Check out stills and a trailer from the video (featuring Alica Keys) and BKyle’s commentary from three weeks ago. Music video trailers are new, and I’m not mad.

• HighVoltage and TheRootsLive.com crew give us some tasty Monday morning treats today. New live Roots shows added for download include Montreux Jazz Festival from July 1999, The Creekside Jamboree from June of ‘03, and the final installment of video from part 3 of the AOL Broadband Concert shot in May of ‘04. Yummy!

• So I finally clicked on the “Living with Baduism” post which I initially thought was going to be just another nostalgic look at an OkayClassic. Instead what I got was my drink all over my monitor in a moment of ROTFLMAO. This is hilarious and its great to see Erykah herself getting in on the fun replying in both places.

• In her reply on OhWord, Erykah reveals that her highly anticipated full length album reportedly title Kahba or eryKAHBAdu will drop on her birthday 2008 (look it up!) and that the first offerings of new music will come in November. “Prepare to die on contact,” lol.
