Saul Williams = Niggy Tardust, Kweli Interviews Madlib On Rap City, More Movies For Common, New Orleans Benefit
Saul Williams = Niggy Tardust
• Today, Saul Williams drops his new release The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust in a Radiohead-style pay-what-you-feel internet only fashion. Throw down the maximum $5 for higher-quality sound, or nothing at all for good quality mp3s! Got your download already? What do you think?

• By now you’ve prolly been watching Kweli-week on BET’s Rap City. For those who’ve missed, watch as Kwe interviews Madlib. I can’t tell whose pool game is more official, but I did get to hear Madlib talk production, upcoming projects and various artists he’s working with. Sidenote: peep Kweli’s hoodie made by our people at Willis Couture of Canada. Today on Rap City, it’s Erykah Badu, 9th Wonder, and Jean Grae, and then tomorrow Strong Arm Steady.

• As you might have seen from chatter on the boards, Okayplayer is about to undertake a new endeavor… the official 2007 Okayplayer Music & Board Awards! We’re still finalizing our categories so take a look and offer up your feedback and suggestions. My suggestion for most abused Roots Tour Manager and Okayplayer Editor were denied.

• Common’s been busy getting his act on this year! We all know American Gangster is debuting tomorrow and here’s some info on another project due out in March of ‘08 entitled Wanted. Look at the exclusive photos and then watch the trailer.

• Since Little Brother’s Get Back has become locked in to our play list rotation, we thought we’d download this mix, put together with music from those who inspired LB, including De La, ATCQ, and Slum Village.

• New Orleans, we know you’re still recovering from Voodoo Fest last weekend, and partying on Frenchman St. last night, but the party don’t stop in this city. This weekend, come out for Hip Hop for Hope, a three day concert/forum event benefiting city education programs and a relief fund to help rebuild city muscians’ homes. Don’t miss an appearance by Lupe Fiasco as part of the “Community Forum and Culture Showcase,” where he will be discussing his views on hip hop, and promoting The Cool. Come out and support!
