It’s true that we don’t really know what Jean Grae looks like anymore. We’ve counted maybe 5 different versions in the past two years and now we’re just confused. I guess that’s all part of being a superhero. At least we still know what she sounds like, like awesome! Kweli sent us the mp3 of his “Hot Thing” (Remix) featuring Jean and NeYo but you can listen at Greezy’s MySpace or download the mp3 yourself here. Hopefully we get that Blacksmith TV Episode II this week!
Contest Winners: Congratulations to Micah D. for winning tickets to see Ghostface, Rakim, & Brother Ali tomorrow in Philadelphia at the Trocadero. Thanks to all who entered. It’s not too late to buy tickets. We got a ton of great response to our “Wild Style” contest. Congrats to OKPs howisya (for being 1st!), Sawkrahteez, and our grand prize winner LukaBrazzi777 who will receive both the “Wild Style” dvd and a limited “Wild Style: The Sampler” hardcover book.
Brooklyn, after you stuff yourself silly with Turkey, waddle out into the world and dance off some of that stuffing. Friday The Cool Kids present Breathe, a charity benefit for the Filli Foundation to support Asthma Awareness at Southpaw. Hosted by Pharoahe Monch with performances by Fresh Daily, Naturel, Soul Purpose and more.
Consequence has signed on with us to do a diary from the road as he tours Europe with Kanye West and Common. They left yesterday. Check back!
We’ve been hearing about it but now we can actually listen to the Justice “D.A.N.C.E” (Benny Blanco) remix feat. Mos Def and Spank Rock
Victory tour! Ok, not really, but there are unconfirmed rumors popping up in the ether of the web about a Jackson 5 reunion show for 2008. Black Vibes (by way of Launch) reports that concert promoter Leonard Rowe (who worked the Off The Wall tour in the late 70s/early 80s) has supposedly met with the Jacksons to discuss making this show a reality. We’re keeping our fingers crossed.
In case you missed out on August’s issue of TRACE magazine, OKP is here to hook you up. Peep the feature on some of the lovely ladies of The Black Lily, including The Jazzyfatnastees, Amanda Diva, Imani Uzuri, Toshi Reagon, Donn Thompson, and Liza Garza.
