Cons Tour Entry #2, CunninLynguists Are Back, Busta x Mick Boogie & Mos Def Remember Dilla, Nas Snippet Wack?
Consequence is going off in his blog giving us all sorts of insider perspective as he tours Europe with Kanye West, Common, and Estelle. Check out the second entry of Consequence’s “Glow In The Dark Tour Journal” titled “Who Knew My Luck Would Change.” Of course make sure you didn’t miss the first entry “What Else Could Go Wrong???” (lol) and check back all this week for new installments!
CunninLynguists (wiki) have been around equally as long as Okayplayer.com. Their fourth LP, Dirty Acres, drops TOMORROW and features Devin the Dude, Phonte, Witchdoctor, and more. These cats get a lot of love on the boards. Kno from the group posted a link to the stream of full album on MTV Sweden’s “The Leak.” Check it out and decide for yourself!
Busta-bus and DJ Mick Boogie have teamed up to release a new online mixtape titled “Dillagence,” in honor of the GOAT J. Dilla. Rhymes says that “Dillagence” will feature exclusive unreleased Dilla produced material stating that “Dilla left so much incredible music behind with me personally, it’s almost like he knew I was a vessel for him, and would be able to continue to champion his movement.” Read the full story on AllHipHop. The release will be available FREE on Mick Boogie’s Web site at Midnight EST tonight!
The Detroit Free Press has reported that Mos Def and his Big Band, an experimental jazz outfit founded in 2004, will play a tribute to Dilla on January 21st at Ann Arbor’s Hill Auditorium. Tickets are $25-$45 and go on sale through the University Musical Society at the University of Michigan, which is helping present the event. For more details call 734-764-2538 or visit UMS.org. While the article made no mention of it, we imagine this is a benefit for the Dilla Foundation.
Okayplayers are hating on a leaked snippet of a supposed first single off the upcoming Nas album. I have yet to click on it but damn!
DJ Soul was on Shade 45 (Sirius) Friday from 2pm-4pm spinning all early 90’s Hip Hop. If you have been following our mixtape series with Soul, you know he is meticulous with his selections and blends. Don’t just take our word for it though, Soul posted the track listing PLUS download links for all two hours of the show in The Lesson. Tanya Morgan recently tapped Soul to make them a mixtape as part of their prize for winning the XM/MySpace contest.
We are putting the final touches on the voting system for the 2007 Okayplayer Music Awards where your votes determine the winners in all 27 categories. We hope to launch tomorrow and at the very latest, Wednesday.
