First up, voting for the 2007 Okayplayer Music Awards is launching this evening around 6pm EST!
As being reported on damn near every hip hop site and blog, Busta Rhymes has teamed with Mick Boogie to release the online mixtape tribute to J Dilla titled “Dillagence.” Peep the track list and BUY a hard copy or download FREE from here. Discuss here and since it seems that Mick Boogie’s link is down, search that thread for the megaupload jawn.
So while I STILL haven’t listened to that supposed Nas snippet, turns out it’s fake anyway. Made up of a blend of leaked vocals on top of a random beat, we’ve all been had! WTF sort of reporting is this anyhow? Shame on us (and YOU, blogs!). I would have just called Kelis to ask her but she changed her number. (What up, girl!) In other news, Nas’ album has been pushed back to February ‘08 during Black History Month. Nas really trying to stir isht up, ain’t he?
Today is the day our friends at Rawkus Records officially launched their much anticipated (and innovative) Rawkus 50. That’s right, 50 albums being released digitally at once for a total of 650 exclusive tracks. Chosen from hundreds of submissions, all Rawkus 50 Artists™ profiles can be viewed on my.rawkus.com. What do y’all think?
While there is a handful of great artists in the 50, I have to give a special shout out to the dude Mr. Metaphor (aka Marc Bars) of Brooklyn Academy who has been grinding away in the rap game since the first Lyricist Lounge releases. Check out his Rawkus 50 profile and listen to racks “Click Click” feat Block McCloud, “Rebirth,” Sometimes,” It’s Only Right,” the bi-lingual “Une Histiore,” and the single “Who Izz He.”
Read the preview of the Kanye West article in GQ’s “Men Of The Year” issue (December 07). In other Kanye news, it has been reported that he worked out differences with Evel Knievel after a visit to the daredevil’s home. Knievel had issued a likeness lawsuit related to Ye’s legendary “Touch The Sky” video.
Seems the rumors might be true. A Jackson 5 reunion tour is in the works for ‘08 (we’re still not certain if it will be “The Jackson 5″ or “The Jacksons”). Jermaine Jackson recently confirmed that Michael will be a part of the action. Check the article on SOHH.
