A new song (over a Dilla beat-tape beat) from Jay Electronica has been making the rounds on the web called “A Prayer for Michael Vick and T.I. (we love you family).” We have to admit we don’t get the title so much since it appears as if both those dudes were playing with major fire. In all our snobbery, we are more in touch with the songs former title, “san pelligrino with lemon.” Now that we understand! (lol) The lyrics (compliments of OhWord & wmdeez) make no direct mention of either of ATL’s fallen heroes*. Get in on the discussion (shout out to sweeneykovar) and look out for Jay Electronica’s “Act 2: Patents of Nobility (the turn)” available for free download Dec 25th.
A few weeks ago we caught a last second opportunity to interview our man DJ Hi-Tek. OKPDan threw together a few questions and called the bol up. Check the transcript where Tek talks about the upcoming release of his Hi-Teknology 3 album (Dec 11), working with Dr. Dre on the elusive Detox record, and the fact that both his and Kweli’s schedules are freed up for them to concentrate on the follow up to their classic Reflection Eternal debut, Train Of Thought. Tek also mentions working with London based artist Estelle (signed to John Legend’s Homeschool Records) who we know from Consequence’s blog is out on the “Glow In The Dark” tour with Kanye & Common.
In other interview news, Little Brother’s Phonte talks about LB along with new projects in the works with Zo and Foreign Exchange, working with Darien Brockington, leaving a major label, and leaking the album. Listen to what he has to say.
Sayonara Rawkus, hello Duck Down. Kidz In The Hall (Naledge and Double O) have inked a new deal with Duck Down Records to release their next album The In Crowd sometime next year. So far they tell us they’ve got collabos with Black Milk, Guilty Simpson, Camp Lo, Cool Kids, Skyzoo, Sean Price, and The Pack. The new single “Drivin’ Down The Block (Low End Theory)” will drop soon, but until then here’s a video snippet to tide you over. So retro!
Ghostface brings the heat with his new record, The Big Doe Rehab! Set for release December 4, you can listen to the entire album stream from Def Jam’s webpage before you pre-order the CD. Stay tuned for our Big Doe Rehab contest (next week) where OKP will give away a Zune player FREE!

*Inside information through our office has us wondering if T.I. really was set up and is in fact innocent of charges, despite supposedly being caught with all those guns. Michael Vik on the other hand….
