Estelle Ramps Up, New Wyclef Video, EW Does Dillagence, Audio Interview With the RZA, The Web’s Got Jokes.
• We were first introduced to British hip-hop artist, singer and producer Estelle when she toured with The Roots in Europe a few years back. Her name reappeared on our radar through Consequence’s journal as she joined Ye and Com on the UK Glow In The Dark tour. Now her name seems to be popping up more regularly and people are intrigued. Check that link for various videos and discourse and mark your calendars for Spring 2008 when John Legend’s Homeschool Records will release her sophomore LP Shine. The album is said to feature production by Will.I.Am, Wyclef Jean, Mark Ronson, Hi-Tek, Cee-lo, Swizz Beatz and Kanye West.
• Speaking of Wyclef Jean. Peep the new video for his song “Fast Car” featuring Paul Simon. Nice song. If you aren’t voting for ‘Clef as The Altruist Of The Year then you’re buggin!
• NYC can check Estelle live tomorrow Tuesday December 11th at S.O.B.’s. followed by Goapele with special guest Matthew Santos this Wednesday.
• Entertainment Weekly gave a well-deserved shout-out to Mick Boogie and Busta Rhymes’ Dillagence mixtape in last week’s “The Must List,” a round-up of the staff’s top ten favorites in music, film, television, and books. Listed as number six in the randomly selected list, EW writes: “Dearly departed rap great J Dilla lives on, as old pal Busta Rhymes adds witty new rhymes to Dilla’s inspiring beats.” Order a copy or download for free.
