Okayplayer News 12.31.07

REEwwwwind, selectahh. Going to keep this short. Last night The Roots and family rang in 2008 with a show at the House Of Blues in Atlantic City NJ. ?uesto, Knuckles, and Gingerlynn had just landed from Las Vegas where a version of the illadelphonics (the addition of Bilal singing back up is notable) ripped the Palms’ Pearl Theater with ex Roots label boss Jay-Z. At some point, Ginger will have an exclusive photo gallery featuring ?uesto & co, Jayonce, Ne-Yo, Mary J, Kanyeezy, Beanie, Bleak, and more. ?uest may make a post but it remains to be seen. This is primarily due to the fact that the man does not seem to stop working. Despite arriving in Atlantic City with no sleep since Vegas, DJ ?uesto rocked an all night after party downstairs from the House of Blues in the Foundation Room with much of The Roots crew present. Champagne toasts punctuated the excitement The Roots camp maintains over what’s to come in 2008. ?uest and Yameen made it back to Philly in time for their 6am flight to Salt Lake City Utah where they do it again tonight. The afro once again gets our unbiased nomination for hardest working person in show business.

This site must make some sort of mention for the sake of everyone out there still shaking (and scratching) their heads from the Presidential elections of 2004. We can finally countdown the last months of George W. Bush until we hit November. Who knows who or what is to come next but I don’t know anyone who doesn’t agree that it has to be better than what we’ve got now (aka, a heaping pile of bullshit).

Normally we include a long list of thank yous and credits in our last update of the year. Short and sweet. We first need to thank everyone who comes and checks out okayplayer & the boards and supports what it is. We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you. Thank you to all the artists and labels who are down with us, you keep us going. Erik Pettie, let your mom know you still matter since we are so credible and just printed your name again. (what you think I forgot?). Happy birthday to my own mother. Be safe tonight and welcome all to a new calendar year.
