The Good, The Bad, The Ugly - Video, Final Cons Blog, Roots Japan Journal & Flix, New Talib Kweli Interview, More.
We’ve been building up to this moment all week and now, ladies and gentlemen (drum roll please), we can FINALLY present to you the World Premiere of Consequence’s new video, “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” featuring Kanye West, from the Don’t Quit Your Day Job LP. As we’re welcoming a new video into rotation, we’re also commemorating the end of Cons’ Tour Journal (tear!). While the Glow In the Dark UK Tour has been over for a minute, Consequence’s last on-the-road journal entry was just added. Find out about the glorious final performance in Glasgow, what’s up next for Cons in ’08, and his new career as a blogger? Uh oh, I think we started something… (THANK YOU, CONS! Word)
Any of you imeemers out there should hit up the profile we just kicked off. (We admit, the delay with posting the above video was a result of Okayplayer’s video player not being where we want it. Any of you Flash wizzards out there want to lend a hand to the site, please email Dan at okayplayer.com)
Last week we promised you some prime photographtastic action from Gingerlynn who’s jet setting with The Roots and Skillz over in Japan right now. Well, here’s what you’ve been waiting for! The guys (and lady) took a pause from their packed schedules to churn out a tour journal chronicling their adventures in shopping, rehearsing, sight-seeing, and getting through the night with help from the Polish Erykah Badu (say what?). Expect more footage as the second leg of their trip wraps up. Hey ?uesto, bring back some kicks for us!
Talib Kweli is Detroit-bound tomorrow for a show at St. Andrews Hall, and the Detroit Free Press had a chance to chat with the lyricist and Blacksmith label head about the evolution of hip hop, how the music biz is changing, and who he’s putting his money on in this year’s Presidential election.
As we continue to celebrate her Grammy nomination, peep out Ledisi’s video for “Alright”, the first single off her Lost And Found LP. By the way, Boots from The Coup wanted y’all to know that Ledisi is actually from the Bay, not New Orleans (thanks for the check up).
Kidz In The Hall’s Double O hit up the boards to drop off their new single, “Drivin’ Down The Block,” a bass-heavy joint made especially for sound systems and booty-poppin’. Turn up the volume for this one.
Last night out in Brooklyn, The Fader mag celebrated the release of their latest issue featuring our home girl Santogold. As always, OKP resident photographer Mel D Cole was in the house to snap some flicks. Shout out to Spank Rock, A-Trak, Leroy Jenkins, & Frank 151. But what? No picks of our boy, the Timbo produced and signed Izza Kizza? Don’t sleep on him.
