With four shows left (two per day) The Roots take on Tokyo at Billbord Live! Peep the tour journal where ?uesto and Skillz check in, and gingerlynn provides some flicks of the action. The hardest working band in hip hop may find a few hours Saturday AM to hit the streets once more, and they’ll be checking back in so stay tuned.
Carrying the G.O.O.D. vibes over from yesterday’s “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” world premiere from Consequence, here comes label mate and fellow Chicagoan GLC with the new video for “Honor Me.” We’re feelin’ the lazy bounce. What about you?
Meanwhile, you heard it here first but now you can see for yourself in this video of Cons taking it to Jigga in a heated battle of “Four In A Row” (aka Connect Four) posted by ‘Quence on his YouTube channel. What does it all mean?
Third time’s a charm as they say, and Van Hunt is gearing up to release his third LP, Popular, on Blue Note Records. The Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter hasn’t been on the block since 2006’s On the Jungle Floor, and is now back to revive his sexy soulful funk with an album that garnered a pretty impressive four ?uesties for its honest groove from start to finish. The album dropped this week… the temperatures stay droppin’… who knows? Maybe tonight you’ll wanna stay in for some Van Hunt-inspired boo lovin.
Here’s a treat for you. Check out this interview with OneBeLo courtesy of rapreviews.com. In it, the Pontiac, Michigan native discusses relocating his family to Egypt and expanding his music to international heights. OneBeLo’s new album The R.E.B.I.R.T.H. is in stores now and the globetrotter is currently in the midst of a world tour.
Che Grand has us on some Tarzan isht, swinging and crashing all over the place, but we don’t mind because dude is dope. He dropped yet another gem on the boards yesterday with his new joint “Crash” of the soon come album Everything’s Good Ugly. I must admit, this song is indeed workin’.
Yesterday we shouted out Kidz In The Hall and their new single, “Drivin’ Down The Block.” Check out this clip of them recording another album cut called “Let Your Hair Down.” Thanks to nahright for the scoop.
It was a star-studded event at last night’s Wu-Tang show and Mel D Cole was on hand to flick it up. The Wu brought the 8 Diagrams Tour back to NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom for round two, and by the looks of it, the show was bananas. Diddy, Tracey Morgan, and Redman came through, and what would a Wu-Tang show be without a Method Man crowd surf? Check ‘em out.
Lastly, on Monday we mentioned Akrobatik’s new “Put Ya Stamp On It” track featuring Talib Kweli where they rock over a Dilla beat. The song is off Ak’s upcoming album Absolute Value (February 19th on Fat Beats) and you can support by buying the single now along with the B side, “Be Prepared” featuring Little Brother.
