Def Jam To Drop Nas Over Title?, Video:Duo Live Ft. Kweli, New Evidence Video, RIP Disco D, Farewell Procussions.

“>The rumor-mill is buzzing that Def Jam may be looking to drop Nas from the label if he doesn’t change the album title for his anticipated ‘08 release, currently titled Nigger. Clearly a controversial choice for an album title, we’re pretty sure Nas put serious time and thought into his decision and won’t easily back down. Although blatantly offensive to many, using the “N” word (a word so rich with meaning on so many different levels that entire books have been written about it) as an album title also provokes questions not often asked by the mainstream media about identity, racism, minstrelsy, the power of language, the history of prejudice, and so much more.

• Speaking of Def Jam, there’s at least one artist who’s not blaming the label for his poor album sales (relatively speaking, of course). Ghostface is <a href=”http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=5&topic_id=1548833&mesg_id=1548833&page=
“>blaming the fans instead for illegally downloading his latest record The Big Doe Rehab which cleared 30,000 the 1st week out and has yet to hit 100,000 in sales.

• Watch this new vid from Duo Live off their latest The Color of Money featuring your boy Talib Kweli. Kwe kills his verse, and of course we’re loving the Brooklyn in the summertime vibe.

• For more summer in the wintertime, peep this new video from Evidence for “Chase The Clouds Away” off The Weatherman LP. Produced by The Alchemist, this song makes me… happy… happy… happy.

• In other video news, we’ve got this homemade joint by Martin Luther. Something to cruise to! Listen to “Super Nova” and feel that Cali breeze.

• It’s been one year since Disco D passed away but his memory isn’t lost. Listen to this track entitled “My Dedication” from his friend Mr. Johnson who uses a beat Disco had originally made for Jay Z and Nas.. Def Jam decided not to cop the beat because of certain clearance problems, so Disco D passed it on to his homie. RIP.

• As we say goodbye to The Procussions who officially broke up this week, take a minute and <a href=”http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=5&topic_id=1550647&mesg_id=1550647&page=
“>watch this video of their live performance at The Elysee Montmartre. We’ll certainly miss the group but look forward to more from Mr. J and Stro.

• Ya heard it here first. Yup, Consequence’s obsession with Connect 4 has made it to MTV news. Read about the heated competition, wins over Common, losses to Jiggaman, and the neck-and-neck battles with Kanye. Looks like Connect 4 is the new Uno of touring. (Oh, if you don’t know about Uno just step off…)
