King Kanye, Cons & Jean Videos For Valentine’s, Badu Secret Show in NYC, More Videos + Now Hear Thiseses.

• Kanye West is currently the King of Hip-Hop, a title he earned in a relatively short time. He’s selling the most albums, he’s the most talked about, he needs a whole room to house his Grammy and other awards, and he’s driving the culture and its latest trends all on his own terms. In the braggadocio world of Hip-Hop, who could not expect him to be so brash and arrogant? Answer me this, who’s not entertained by this man? Up next for Mr. West, the hugely anticipated video for “Flashing Lights” which ‘Ye co-directed with the legendary Spike Jonze. On Sunday West premiered the video to a star studded audience at EW’s post Grammy party saying: “I feel like a brand-new artist that just signed yesterday. Every piece of the video is me, what I represent now.” The video should be hitting any minute. Then of course, the US Glow In The Dark Tour with N.E.R.D., Lupe Fiasco, and Rihanna kicks off in April.

• While you wait for “Flashing Lights,” we will be premiering the new video from Consquence for “Feel This Way” featuring Philly’s own John Legend and directed by Rik Cordero on Valentines Day (this Thursday if you don’t know) . Get a taste of what’s to come with the behind-the-scenes clip below. New York area peeps, join us in at the premiere party this Thursday.

• And the new videos don’t stop as we just received word that Jean Grae’s “Love Thirst” is in color correction. This may come just in time for Valentine’s Day as well.

• We know you’re anxiously awaiting the release of New Amerykah (so close yet so far!). Well now is your chance to see Erykah Badu perform live at a secret location in NYC. You and a guest may be lucky enough to check out this intimate performance hosted by VH1 Soul on Tuesday, February 19th. Lastly, the final segment of the making of Nicolay and Kay’s new album, TIME:LINE, as seen here on Rappers I know.

• New in our Now Hear This! we’ve got Blue Note’s Droppin’ Science. The legendary label has done some crate digging into their own arsenal of a catalog to bring us this mix of jazz, funk, and soul greats. Tipping their hat to hip-hop greats who’ve sampled this work, they bring us joints from Donald Byrd, Lou Donaldson, Grant Green and David McCullum. Oh, and did we mention that your boy ?uestlove wrote the liner notes! But of course.

• Last Friday Pete Rock was shooting his newest video for the single “Till I Retire” off his new album NY’s Finest. Joined by DMC and Redman, Pete Rock will add an outro from “Best Believe” (featuring Redman) to this vid. Read Jerry Barrow’s account of the day and peep some flicks as well. Then make sure you check out our own Now Hear This! where you can download and listen to this single!
