I’m not sure what the venue is as I have no idea what is says on the bottom of the stunning poster above, but I do know that the Kremlin has never looked so glamorous as it does in Badu’s fro. • In other b-day news, keyboardist extraordinaire Robert Glasper threw down this past weekend in NYC. OKP’s Mel Blunt was on-hand for the action, where Glasper took the stage alongside Chris “Daddy” Dave on drums, Casey Benjamin on Sax and vocoder, and Derrick Hodge on bass. Peep the fotos. The evening turned into an all out jam session as special guests Q-Tip, Roy Hargrove, and Bilal all graced the mic. Happy birfday Robert!
• I’m sure most of you have heard by now but one half of OutKast, Sir Lucious L. Leftfoot better known as Big Boi, is prepping to put on a performance for the ages April 10-13 at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre. What’s so different about this performance you ask? He is doing it with The Atlanta Ballet Dance Company. The show, titled “Big,” is the first of it’s kind and will be a mix of new music and some of Big Boi’s classic hits. I think this is a real good look, we’re all tired of spending mad dough on concert tickets and seeing the same old two step. The message boards are talkin, so weigh in on what you think. Big Boi’s new solo album is supposed to drop this summer, no title yet.
• OKP sent resident writer Candace L. to preview the Sundance Grand Jury prize winning film Trouble the Water directed by Carl Deal and Tia Lessin, which will be shown at this years Black Lily Film & Music Festival in Philadelphia May 1st-4th.
