• Com Sense goes off the top of the dome in this ill freestyle. During a show at Michigan State University, Common creatively plugs his movie Street Kings and lets us know his next album Invincible Summer will be droppin June 24th while he’s spittin. He really merks this one with that last line “listen to the style I push/Vote for Obama and Fuck Bush!”.

Obama brushes that dirt of his shoulders. Watch the vid, and then see how his 35,000+ turn out at Philadelphia’s Independence Mall this past Friday garnered support for Tuesday’s Primary election in PA. In addition to hip-hop’s support, like Black Thought, ?uestlove and Mos Def, today filmmaker Michael Moore endorses Obama in a letter to all Pennsylvanians. Read his take on the candidates and the election process, and then if you’re in Philly head to “Barack 4 Basics” tonight at Silk City! Tomorrow- get your VOTE on!

• Dantana reminisces of the early days of Okayplayer (and hints at things to come) as we embark on our first week of action on the new site.

• More vids from some Chi bred artists straight to your Monitors, this time from the self appointed “New black version of the Beastie Boys” The Cool Kids. Performing a few of their hits at a show last week in Chicago, along side FNF artist GemStones among others.

• More shine for our boy Blu, first a freestyle session with Blu and Fashawn after a show in Fresno. Courtesy of Shake we’ve got some performance videos from that show, as well as a Blu & Exile interview.

• New joint from Nas produced by Salaam Remi and Big Jack called “Be a Ni_ _ er too”. He proceeds to call people of all ethnicities “Ni_ _ ers” in the song and may have beaten Black Thought’s “75 Bars” performance for most N bombs in one song.

Elzhi of Slum Village fame, has a new single called “Save Ya” off his upcoming solo album. Hot song, and here’s an Elzhi interview courtesy of CDR.

allhiphop has a nice piece covering songstress Estelle during a recent concert in Atlanta. Make sure you peep the vid of her performing a rendition of Michael Jackson’s “I can’t help it” with John Legend, ish is dope.

The Coup are busy bees right now! According to their myspace page, they’ve already begun recording a new album. There’s also a mysterious reference to another album that Boots has already completed, but is not to be talked about yet… hmmm?? Finally, there will be a record of older Coup songs remixed by well-known producers dropping on Steve Aoki’s DimMak Records later this year as well. And of course, the touring and festivals just don’t stop (check the post for dates/cities). Three albums in one year… where have I heard that before?

there’s also some other really good Cop news. Wild Pitch records are re-releasing a large portion of their catalog and two of the albums are older Coup albums. Kill My Landlord and Genocide and Juice. Kill My Landlord drops tomorrow as far as I know. For all the new fans be sure to check these out.

Don’t really know how I feel about that new Nas. I really don’t understand the purpose of the song. I was hoping the album would bring something more creative than what that song suggests. Seems like it’s just celebration of being a…you know.
