NYOIL vs. Nas, Atmosphere in stores!, N.E.R.D. Vocab, Phil & Kweli Go Green, Kidz Sell Cars, Pac & U-N-I, D.C. X BKupd080422.jpg

• Now I think we all knew that Nas song we linked ya’ll to yesterday was going to stir up some controversy, after all that was the point of it. NYOIL has a song that was released long ago that sounds somewhat similar to Nas’s song. So the question is, does this song or even this whole album concept raise awareness about race relations or is it, as others have suggested, purely ignorance on wax? Hit the boards to hear NYOIl’s song and discuss the issue (try and keep it clean people, there are good arguments on both sides). I think I’m going to hold my opinion until I hear the final product, which is now pushed back ’till July 1st. NYOIL has already given his opinion on the song. Peep it on nahright. Also here are some vids of Nas performing at Syracuse University recently.

When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold, the latest effort from duo Atmosphere, drops today. OKP got a chance to catch up with Slug and ask him about life as an underground rap phenomenon. Read our interview, then take it to the boards where Slug has been seen posting up, answering your questions!

Dj Hyphen blessed the boards with a post of video and audio from an interview he recently did with N.E.R.D.. Pharrell gets deep speaking about their upcoming album Seeing Sounds and the phenomenon of Synesthesia, which is what the album title is in reference to (don’t feel stupid, I had to wiki it too).

• As we celebrate Earth Day today, we’re taking the train instead of driving, changing our light bulbs to energy savers, recycling our Formula 50 Vitamin Water bottles, and generally thinking green. All kinds of green. Phil Da Agony has a green message for us all too with “Think Green” featuring Talib Kweli.

• Need a new whip for summertime? Hit up the Kidz In The Hall dealership in the new “Driving Down The Block” video from their upcoming album The In Crowd, on the shelf May 13. Check out those suits!

Thurzday of U-N-I hit up the boards to give us a snippet of their new single “A Love Supreme”. It’s produced by Ro Blvd, I think the full version is floatin around the net somewhere…but i can’t be spoon feedin ya’ll everything.

• Dem west coast boys gettin their buzz up somethin serious these days. Pac Div was recently named one of the new artists to look out for in 08 by URB magazine, and they also have a video interview with Flow TV to help you get familiar. These dudes aren’t some loud-clothes-wearing, no-lyric-having hipsters (I’m sayin no names), check out their video for “Paper.”

• BK and D.C. unite on this banga, “Lyrically Inclined.” Underground vet Skyzoo and Wale go in on this one.
