testing won too…*tap tap tap* hello world…is this thing on?

wow.
its taken me long enough to get down to business but here it is….my very own official blog.

its so much pressure in here.

i had a built in myspace audience of 200,000+ people….but now i’m back to square one for the okayteam wants me to put all my energy into this website–i mean after all i created it right?

my publicist wants my blog to be as politically charged as my band’s albums so that we can establish me as the new political rage–but i got all the time in the world to wax poetic right?

i figured i’d start off with a simple blog.

imma have the okayplayers from the general boards ask me 20 ?uestions and i’ll answer as best as i can.

robone4 (and his non scrabble ass from Rancho Cucamonga, Ca) asks “when are you going to write a tell all book”

honestly? i see the “tell all” book as my last financial resort. second to teaching. because of my zany storytelling style (and the fact that i would probably alienate all my celebrity friends. it’ll be a good 40 years of ?yrptograms before i start naming names.

firebrand from the A! wants to know “when does art cease becoming expression and devolve to work?”

i believe the simple answer is when its for sale. i kinda chuckle inside when cats on my side of the fence give this shpeal about “art”. if cats really did art for the love? they would do it on the street corners for free. im personally lucky that i get paid a shitload of loot to do something i would do for free. but poppa aint raise no fool now. i do know the value of my worth and this is a bu$ine$$.

Anfernee in Melbourne, Australia asks “who’s your favorite asian pornstar?”

i was intrigued like most cats in the early 90s with Asia Carrera but since the tragedy with the death of her husband she has kept a relatively low profile in the past couple. Of course her flaunting the whole “smartest chick in porn” thing was intriguing (degree, classical pianist, designed own website—i mean who could ask for anything more?)—but her being out of the radar made her out of sight out of mind.

motherf#$@ tera patrick for all of the racist shit she said on not working with black men in her movies while on howard stern’s radio show (she said its business not personal–for black men don’t mean “$$$” in the billion dollar porn industry and often “hillary’s america” will turn their backs on a starlet if she works with “a black”.

i met a few in my career. and even though she aint across the board a household name: the coolest is in my opinion nautica thorn

Koko from Do Or Die Bed Stuy writes “thank god for that white: a) tee b) liquor or c) cocaina.?”

if forced to make a choice i choose b) for once in a blue moon i enjoy a bailey’s or godiva drink (yes im the bitch drink expert) i am too dark and big to rock a white tee, and i’ve never seen coke in real life.

OkayKuntree from LA writes: “any more side projects?”

the same answer everytime is “be on the lookout for a new Randy Watson project”……

83 from Seattle Washington writes “What is your single proudest moment in your entire career?”

i could write a top 20 “favorite moments” in my life list….but man…nothing will EVER take the place of playing “Housequake” in Prince living room and Sheila E and Prince beaming down on me like proud parents. that was the only time i got overwhelmed with my job. i would sit in that mildew infested basement for HOURS listening to their music (never playing the drum patterns for i didn’t wanna give myself away that i was listening to the only artist banned in the thompson household–) one day praying i could be a peer. man that night was special to me.

Johnpitt in Liverpool Uk writes Zooey Deschanel or Scarlett Jo

this is too easy. but you gotta understand that Match Point was my favorite film of 2005.

lucky212 of NYC wants to know if i would go on a tampon run for a significant other?

lol…absolutely! i’ve purchased more embarrassing stuff than that—but with 0 shame. back in the day i’d cop 40 magazines, juice, cards, pens, detergent, speed stick and THEN the item of my desire. now? in and out.

Optometrist asks “what is your least favorite food?”

i want to murder the person who said bean sprouts are food.

Boyd from my favorite city Austin Tx wants me to quote a line from a favorite movie.

christopher tracey: “PITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!……..oh lawd…”

i should just leave it at this…..lol

well thank you very much ladies and gents. i have a drive to -gulp-richmond va. (and if you know me like i think you know me….that is why i gulped.

ciao kids!

Word. @ that answer for the “art” question, it’s almost like you choose to work with what you love just to make it less like “work”.

    But it’s still work.

    Aint no free lunches.

i always wonder whether Asia Carrera’s whole “smartest chick in porn” schtick was just a bunch of bullshit…

i mean, she was always going on about MENSA and how she’s a pro on the stock market and all that, but when her husband died, she was on her website crying poor and begging her fans to send her money.

(then again, maybe she IS smart, because she knew there was a load of simps who woul actually do it, and they did!)

she also said she wouldn’t work with brothers, you know…

    Hey ?uestlove,

I’m a longtime fan and I’ve seen you perform a couple of times. I just wrote an “Open Letter to the Roots re: Deerhoof” that I thought you might be interested in reading. Let me know what you think!!

You may have misunderstood the Zooey vs. Scarlett question. Maybe.

Zooey’s got her music project SHE & HIM and Scarlett just released an album of Tom Waits covers.

In the music dept? Zooey hands down.

But, I’ll agree with you about the other thing. haha

wuld have killed 2 see u play “Housequake” w/Prince&Sheila E. standing by. I am the biggest Prince fan. SignO’THe Times is the best album ever!!!!!!!!!!
Wish, actually pray that someday U will collaborate with Prince. Ballard Of DOrothy Parker, can’t believe he forgot the lyrics while performing wit U and D’angelo. Had the pleasure of witnessing a after party given by Prince, in Boston. He did none of his hits, he covered everyone from the Isley Bros. to Mavis Staples. Amazing!!! Was so worth the $50 beans.
Was so madd when Prince toured only Europe 4 Sign O’The Times

I feel u on the art part. You need some kind of financial savvy regardless of how much you love your vocation “stop listen get the guap/my kids cant eat my love of hip hop” kweli
but my music is still free though.for now(-: disguiz.co.za
