Another sensational track off Rising Down. This is the last joint on the album (US version) and features a verse from Wale and Chrisette Michele on the hook (accompanied by ?uestlove.) No, we are not calling this go-go (merely go-go influenced). Yes, we have the FINAL mastered version and we wish you would have waited.

Dope as fuck!!!!!!!!!!!! Sincerely, “75 bars” was the first bomb. A nuclear bomb followed by “Get Busy”: same fire.
Then, The Roots crew leaked “Birthday girl”: at first a disappointment, I mean, musically speakin’, but this damn chorus penetrated my brain and I started to really love the song.
“Rising down” with Mos and Styles was another nuclear bomb…
And then, I think this (”Rising up”) is the best thang I heard from The Roots since “Clock with no hands” or “Game theory”.
You guys definitely have been definitely rockin’ the world since Organix.
Thank you.
Oh, by the way, last year I was in the front row at your concert in Lyon, France. Dudes rocked the show for like 2 hours. All people after that looked as if they’ve been doin’ 4 hours of gym. Quest singin’ “Rooooooxanne!!!” at the encore, Thought smokin’ the mic’ the whole show, with some subliminal Dilla tributes so “Fantastic!!!”…
The Roots is about to release another masterpiece.
Damn I ain’t no dickrider but I think all of this.
One Love. Peace from Italy and France.
I don’t care if yall are never received by the masses. This song among others is why people should listen!
Sweetness, thy name is ‘Rising Up’. Chrissette Michele does the damn thing, and Wale holds it down, playing the Malik B-side to the Black Thought action.
I saw the Roots rock last night in Toronto, and it was the usual dopeness. Black Thought still is too introverted though… but he’s a rhyme animal unlike almost anyone on the planet. I constructively criticize BT because the Roots always seem to wonder why they haven’t “blown up” yet… and I humbly suggest it’s because their drummer is more popular than the voice of their group. I’m sure it’s not the first time you have all heard it, but as the brother of the infamous “Stalker of the Year”, I know where my comments come from. It’s an honest place with good intentions
This song is a leap in the right direction… I hope radio picks it up, cause it’s a breath of fresh air…
may ‘Rising Down’ achieve all that the Roots desire in 2008.
sincerely yours,
Mindbender Supreme
i guess it’s time to pay defjam some $$$$$ on 4/29
the roots always bringing fresh fruits — Black Thought don’t deny those Go-go roots, live music is the anesthetic to Hip Hop electro-drowsiness courtesy of Colli-park and his ilk

I knew the 1st time I heard Chrissete she belonged she was destined for a Roots classic! This is hot, BTW thank you ?uest for showing love for my dear friend Spanking in his passing. Fans thoughts and prayers are much appreciated. Like most great artist, he didn’t leave his widow much money but he left us all with a legacy of music we will never forget.
Sounds amazing. Michelle fits like a glove in this track.
Hope you can make it to Montreal this summer!!
This song is FIYAHHH!!
banging…..
I am a 38 yr old rn, wife, and mom to four wonderful boys. I Love the Roots. I will be seeing the band on may 30th in Chicago where I live. I purchased two sets of tickets, the first was in the balcony for about $150.00. I was not happy with those seats. My husband to my surprise found a special web site that deals in front row seats to hot concerts and paid $650.00 for 2 seats surprising me with front row seats, yeah I’m that good!!!!!!!!!!!!!! see you at the concert. thanks baby i love you.
Oh shit…. Right around :49 a huge smile spread across my face. Nice to hear some go-go back in the scene.
Im pissed at wale for that Troop Jacket
lol
rappers always get that exclusive shit haha
mindbender….don’t you ever say anything negative about BT. if he was any different he wouldn’t be ‘Thought’, and that my friend would be a tragedy. anyway, what about deniro, prince, michael jackson, johnny depp….all very subliminal, and i don’t think they would be any more famous if they yelled more. Black thought is one of illest—period. that nigga represents hip-hop daily….twice on sundays.

the legendary roots crew always bring the fire! Will be bumpin’ Roots 20 years from now!
good googly moogly…yo, when the Roots hit DC again, I’m there. Last year’s show was retarded, after hearing this, it’s going to be short yellow bus drool on yourself retarded. And since Wale’s on this joint, you know he’ll pop up out the bass drum or something…and I think they comin’ with Badu, too?!! Real hip hop is an amazing thing, y’all…throw your radios in the trash.
the beat is incredible…black thought ripped dat joint..chrisette was def made for dis track..and wale def repped for da DMV when he jumped on dis joint..good ass hip-hop cant wait for the album
The Roots have really come back strong. I don’t know where you guys found the inspiration/creative energy but everything I have heard from this record thus far has been classic material. I couldn’t ask for anything better and that’s saying ALOT.
WHOH!!!!! Banannas!!!! That track is crazy ill. The Roots is and has been one of the most underrated squads in Hip Hop…. No in music period. Keep doin what ya’ll do.
How SICK IS THIS???????!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking forward to sharing this album with my brothers and sisters in the continent.
man i am in love!
i think this is the song i’ve been waiting for in ‘08. man i love this.
I heard this song on the way to the radio station and I yelled in awe when I heard Chrisette on the hook and the go-go break down and damn near lost control of my ride. Black Thought ripped it. Imma play this erry chance I get (on te air and in the clubs)cuz its Fiyah!!!!
