Rising Down in stores today+Roots on Letterman and Green Lantern

upd080429a1.jpg

The Roots had a long day in NYC yesterday which started with rehearsals for their performance on David Letterman, followed by the actual throw-down which even had Dave jumping out of his seat. The crew then headed to Sirius Radio for three hours of: live performances, on-air calls from fans, and to chop it up with Green Lantern and DJ Premier on their #1 Hip-Hop Nation show. The surprise of the evening came from an impromptu performance from David Banner with the “Like A Pimp” freestyle remix (dedicated to Sean Bell. Shout out to Angela and Leah at Lip Service). Following all the on-air ruckus, the gang headed to the release party celebration downtown where Mos Def, Black Thought, and Dice Raw rocked the mic over ?uesto cuts into the wee hours. Check in with Gingerlynn’s full recap and photos from the whole day including video of The Roots on Letterman and the full audio download of their appearance on Hip-Hip Nation.

Okay ……Why is the last 27 seconds of “LOST DESIRE” absolutely ridiculously off the meter? PLEASE release the rest of that track.
I think Dilla would be proud. If you don’t I guess I’ll be forced to load it in my MPC and loop it endlessly. ROCK ON, PEACE.

I was fortunate enough to be in the audience for the Letterman show last night. I didn’t know much about the Roots before I went in, but I am a huge fan now. Any band with a crazy dancing sousaphone player gets my support!

    ROOTS ROCK!!!

What an amazing album. I bought it yesterday and spent the last didn’t realize I was still sitting in the parking lot with my daughter in the car seat behind me nodding our heads. You just get lost in this album and even the short trax that sometimes left this hanging, wanting feeling, were right on point. You guys did it again. With every new release I feel like Im discovering the group for the first time. Keep doing what yall doin’ the game needs you guys.
    Bless

I LOVE THE ROOTS, however, why so many guest artists on this album??? I think the roots have enough talen, as they have proved repeatedly, to make an album on their own???

This album is f***in’ great! I havent heard Mos spit like that in a while (track2) and I thought it was great look to have styles p on board with Tariq and Mos.

75 bars is bananas. Waddup with getting Beanie Siegel on there for some extra philly love? I also miss Bahamadia! Where they be at? I continue to love the ways ?uest keeps it fresh and new. Production is great and as awlays, Thought puts it down like none other.

Keep bringing that truth. I love and support yalls honest expression of artistic genius and will continue to support your musica. Keep that fire comin and do a collab with Lupe/Pharaohe Monch on the next disc!

    With Deep respect,
    CME (BayArea, Kali)

Just got the LP today, thanks for bringing it! Beamed when I saw the BIG spiral out, indicating not too much material crammed on each side. Some of us non-DJ folks still PREFER wax and appreciate it when it’s not done as an afterthought.
    Peace.
