The Roots had a long day in NYC yesterday which started with rehearsals for their performance on David Letterman, followed by the actual throw-down which even had Dave jumping out of his seat. The crew then headed to Sirius Radio for three hours of: live performances, on-air calls from fans, and to chop it up with Green Lantern and DJ Premier on their #1 Hip-Hop Nation show. read more…

Smashin guitars and everything last night The Roots (or some derivation there-of) performed on The Colbert Report which has been broadcasting live all week from Philadelphia. Watch the videos where they perform the opening theme song as well as their version of the “SPB”. Yesterday it was falsely promoted as the first ever musical performance (we weren’t counting John Legend’s two appearances since both involved Colbert making them more sketch like) but last night definitely saw some firsts for the show.
